“THE HABIT OF PRAYER”
Romans 12:12 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is. New Living Translation (NLT)
HOW TO REVITALIZE YOUR PRAYER LIFE
I. Approach prayer with the right attitude (Matt. 6:5-8)
• Be Real
Verse 5 -“And now about prayer. When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I assure you, that is all the reward they will ever get. .6.But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father secretly. Then your Father, who knows all secrets, will reward you.
Don’t try to impress other people
Don’t try to impress God
• Be Relaxed
Verse 6 - But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father secretly. Then your Father, who knows all secrets, will reward you.
• Be Revealing
Verse 7- “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered only by repeating their words again and again. II. Use the model JESUS gave us
Matt. 6: 9-15
9. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenlyFather will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
THE 6 PARTS OF PRAYER
Romans 8: 32 Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?
James 4:2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous for what others have, and you can’t possess it, so you fight and quarrel to take it away from them. And yet the reason you don’t have what you want is that you don’t ask God for it.
1. Praise : I begin
by Expressing my love to God.
“ Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name…”
Two kinds of Praise
• Adoration – Praising God for who He is.
• Thanksgiving – Praising God for what He has done.
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
Psalm 100:4
How to praise God
1st. As you read your bible make a list of God’s character, qualities that you discover and then review them when you pray
Ex.
God is patient Num. 14:18 God is living 1 john 4:8
God is merciful Num. 14:18
God is forgiving Num. 14
God knows everything 1 sam 2:2
Key: God’s Character is the basis for our boldness in making request in prayer. God answers the prayer that acknowledge who He is!
2nd. Remind yourself and affirm the promises God has made that are contained in the meaning of His name.
3rd. Make a list of all that you are thankful for and review them when you pray.
2. Purpose: I commit
Pray for God’s will to be
In church, future, job
City, work etc..
“Your kingdom come your will be done”
Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3. Provision I ask
“Give us today”
What needs can I pray about? ALL
Phil 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:32 Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?
James 4:2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous for what others have, and you can’t possess it, so you fight and quarrel to take it away from them. And yet the reason you don’t have what you want is that you don’t ask God for it.
THE KEY: When you have a need
Ask God for it
Write down your request with a promise you are claiming from the bible and expect an answer.
Phil. 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
4. Pardon I Ask
Forgive us our debts…
4 Steps to Forgiveness
1. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal every sin.
Psalm139:23-24- Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. 24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
2. Confess each sin specifically
Proverbs 28: 13 People who cover over their sins will not prosper. But if they confess and forsake them, they will receive mercy.
3. Make Restitution to other when necessary.
Matthew 5: 23-24 “So if you are standing before the altar in the Temple, offering a sacrifice to God, and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you,
24 leave your sacrifice there beside the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.
4. By faith, Accept God’s forgiveness.
1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse from every wrong.
5. People: I Pray
“As we also forgive our debtors”
1 Timothy 2:1 - I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God’s mercy upon them, and give thanks.
If you want to know how to pray for others… look at the prayer of paul.
Ephesians 1: 15-19 Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for Christians everywhere, 16 I have never stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, 17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the wonderful future he has promised to those he called. I want you to realize what a rich and glorious inheritance he has given to his people. 19 I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of his power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 1 thess. 1: 2-3 - We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly. 3 As we talk to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and your continual anticipation of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Col. 1:3-12 - We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, .4.for we have heard that you trust in Christ Jesus and that you love all of God’s people. .5.You do this because you are looking forward to the joys of heaven—as you have been ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News. .6.This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is changing lives everywhere, just as it changed yours that very first day you heard and understood the truth about God’s great kindness to sinners. 7 Epaphras, our much loved co-worker, was the one who brought you the Good News. He is Christ’s faithful servant, and he is helping us in your place. 8 He is the one who told us about the great love for others that the Holy Spirit has given you. 9 So we have continued praying for you ever since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and you will continually do good, kind things for others. All the while, you will learn to know God better and better. 11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father, who has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs to God’s holy people, who live in the light. 2 Thess. 1: 11-12 And so we keep on praying for you, that our God will make you worthy of the life to which he called you. And we pray that God, by his power, will fulfill all your good intentions and faithful deeds.12 everyone will give honor to the name of our Lord Jesus because of you, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the undeserved favor of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. Make a prater list of people you want to pray for . You might pray for different people on different days of the week.
6. Protection I Ask
verse 13 of matthew “ And don’t let us yield to temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Believers face a spiritual battle everyday. Satan wants to defeat you through temptation and fear. By praying for protection you will have the confidence to face every situation during the day.
1 John 4:4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won your fight with these false prophets, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who live

This blog is dedicated to my KFC Group
I am truly blessed for having a group called "KFC" acronym for "Keeping Faith Constantly" (though wasn't there when they established the name- lol)We’ve known each other for 7 years -more or less, came from different background and beliefs. The very thing that put across us and made us one is the love of God. We believe that we’re sinners and needed a Savior. A sinner doesn’t need to do anything to help the savior but the savior requires a thing to save a sinner. The requirement is easy and must come from the bottom of the heart. The savior will never force a sinner nor does something against his will. His love is for everyone. All it takes is to accept him as a savior & sinner will be saved. The savior I’m talking about is JESUSCHRIST. He is our common denominator in the group. Of course, we all have our shares of sorrow & pain but we manage to keep the bond by regularly meeting each other in a place in Sta. Ana (not in the race track :-0) but in a house of a Brother (He’s my idol for single blessed lol) Originally we meet at KFC restaurant from where we derived the name of the group. We have some activities that maintain the spark like sharing the word of God, sing praises, play out and picnic, encourage each other, share the love of Christ not only within us but to others whose willing to join us in the fellowship of believer. Only on those things we truly find the meaning of life.
If you think life is tiring you off and boredom slowly crawling at your door, I encourage you guys to join us. No membership fee, no interrogation. We will pray for you & welcome you. Send me e-mail and I’ll get back to you. You're blessed.
